GOOOOOOOD MORNIN!!! Sorry there was no post the last couple of days. I wasn’t feeling the best. Back on it today though!

Let me ask you a question. Cake or pie? Say it, out loud, to yourself, go ahead. Nice job. Whichever one you said out loud, have that tonight. A little treat just for you! A Thursday night snacky snack. I’m going cake so, there it is.

Leave YOUR answer in the comments below and maybe I will send you a slice of cake, or pie, in the mail. Maybe.

Alright, moving on now.

Actually, no, I have a joke.

Don’t you hate it when the teacher lies and says the homework will be a piece of cake?

I do! It always tastes like paper!

DAHAHAHAHA! NICE! That is a good one, you gotta give me that.

Alright, NOW we are moving on to today’s topic.

When I tell people that I am a writer, I generally get asked a couple of follow up questions. What all have you written? How do you come up with ideas? What made you want to get started in that? What is the best part about it?

As it were, there are TWO best parts of what I do.

The first is that I get to create amazing stories that excite me, surprise me and thrill me and I get to do all of that without any restrictions.

ZERO RULES. No regulations, no standards other than my own. I don’t have to live up to anyone else’s expectations, although no one has higher expectations for me than I do to begin with, but still worth mentioning.

This is one of the few industries you can be a part of where doing something different than anyone else is encouraged not frowned upon. The things that are different are often the things that succeed the most!

To me, there is little better than a blank page, a little bit of time and no end to the possibilities.

My daily word count average is around 2250 words. That is a pretty high word count and I am able to do that consistently without any sort of burn out because I get rolling and I just don’t stop. Why? Because I have zero stress, concern or hesitation.

I just write. There is nothing to lose and there is no one looking over my shoulder waiting to tell me that I wrote that line wrong. There is no fear that what I’m writing is going to be stupid or dumb or unpopular because no matter what I write some people will like it and others won’t.

I am able to let all the pressure roll off of my shoulder and the result is a great piece of work, or at least I think so!

I can just let it flow. Some writers still get into that space where they are worried the people won’t like their work or won’t want to read it. Some worry that they aren’t following the hottest genre trend. Once they get to a place where they understand how free they really are, that is when they will hit their stride as well!

Speaking of people wanting to read your work, that brings me to the SECOND best part of what I do. I get to experience the reactions of the people who are kind enough to pick up my work and read it start to finish.

It is a true blessing for someone to do that. It may not seem like a huge deal for someone to read a book, but it takes a tremendous amount of time to read an entire novel and the fact that someone would give that time to something I created is freakin magical.

Here is what gets me though. I am obsessed with suspense and I do everything I can to make sure that the end of every single chapter leaves the reader no choice but to read on because they just have to know what happens. I do the same thing at the end of the book so that the reader is dying to know what is going to come next.

For me, it is absolutely amazing when someone reads my book and calls me or messages me in a mixture of excitement, surprise and fury because of where I left the story. I love it when a reader is out of there mind because they HAVE to know what happens next!

That alone is enough motivation to write the next one and quickly! Although I love leaving readers in suspense, it is important to get the next story written so that there is some sense of closure.

Speaking of closure, if you aren’t on my email list you wouldn’t have gotten my November newsletter the other day, but in it I announced that the third installment of the Love Before Law series will be releasing in the middle of December! Stay tuned for that and if you aren’t already you can join my email list HERE.

Alright, there it is another week DOWN. BOOM. WE. FREAKIN. DID IT.

Have a great and safe weekend. We will see ya next week!
