How I’d Cast My Books if Netflix Came Calling

Every author dreams—at least once—of seeing their stories come to life on the silver screen. The camera pans across a familiar scene, the dialogue hits just right, and there’s your character walking into frame. It’s surreal. It’s exhilarating. And it’s totally addictive to imagine.

So, I decided to sit down and play casting director for a moment. Here’s who I’d choose to bring some of my most memorable characters to life—if Netflix (or HBO, or Prime… I’m not picky) ever came knocking.

Casey Norris – Casey Norris Detective Series

Cast: Kevin Costner
Why: Similar style to how he played John Dutton on Yellowstone. Very rough and tough, no nonsense and a moral code that is the only law he abides by. This would be perfect for Casey Norris who is old school, and believes in getting the job done versus maneuvering a bunch of red tape.

Matthew O’Bannon – Love Before Law Series

Cast: Tom Hardy
Why: Tom Hardy can play any role. He is such a diverse actor and an absolute master of his art. For Matthew, I need someone who can play a professional in the business world, but has the depth to become something much darker, and at the same time, be someone who can believably fall in love. A stone-cold killer when necessary, but a true heart underneath. Tom is my guy.

Mia, Chelsea and Paisley – Their Last Spring Break

Casting for Mia – Zendaya
Casting for Chelsea – Sophie Turner
Casting for Paisley – Mary Mouser

Why: This story needs an ensemble cast with chemistry, complexity, and emotional weight. Zendaya could lead the charge with grounded strength and common sense. Mouser brings internal tension and also a believable loyalty, and Sophie Turner would absolutely dominate as the wild, unpredictable third in the trio. The mix of rising stars and seasoned pros feels just right for a story with secrets and shifting loyalties.

Let’s be honest—casting is the fun part. The hard part is writing something good enough to get Netflix to call.

But hey, if you’re reading this and you work in development… my books are available. And I’ve got more ideas!

Who would you cast as some of my characters?

Until next time.
